Waitin Long Time

On Monday I officially left my tourist visa and now have a work visa in México! A group of us had to go down to immigration and wait in a crowed room for a couple hours, and a couple signatures and thumbprints later I had the work visa. I would love to show you a picture, but my school needs to do one more thing with it.  Soon I will show the proof!

I had to miss my afternoon classes in order to go to immigration, but in my head I was thinking it’s okay, I’m going to get home early run some errands and life is good. I didn’t get home early, but I did run my errands. I dropped my laundry off, got some fresh veggies from the frutería down the street, and then I had to get a new water jug. My walk home from the Oxxo takes about 5 minutes and for these 5 minutes I carry a 8,000lbs jug. It’s actually quite the workout. On this trip home I went to go readjust the 8,000lbs jug and I hit myself in the chin so hard. I’m pretty sure I screamed, “Well that’s embarrassing”. Good thing no one was around, but it was really funny. The whole rest of the way home all I could imagine was walking up the next morning with a HUGE bruise on my chin… how would I explain that one. Good news I had a baby bruise yesterday (I should of taken a picture) but it’s gone today. My chin is still super tender! Here is me and my precious 8,000lbs water jug.
This is once it was at home and in it's correct location. Sorry for the crazy hair and lack of makeup... I went running before and already showered... and I was laying on the couch before the photo shoot. :)

Last Friday some of the teachers played a basketball game against the students after school. I’m always looking for good entertainment after school so some of us stayed to watch the game. One of the funniest parts happened before the game. Matt (who teaches econ) comes up to the high school offices and he’s carrying his ‘uniform’ so I ask him if he is really wearing his swim trunks to play basketball and here’s how the conversation follows:
Matt: Yeah, I am … I just choked on a gordita while I was dribbling the basketball
Me: (I laugh) Like choke, like had to get the Heimlich? (I was being sarcastic)
Matt: Yeah, one of the students just gave me the Heimlich
And then he kind of walks out to go change for the game. As he walks out I was in shock but also noticed the drool down his shirt.
Him chocking – not funny.
How he just causally mentions he choked on a gordita while dribbling a basketball – hilarious! Here is Matt playing the game… he’s the one who looks like his shorts could also go in the water.
Lesson Learned: DO NOT EAT GORDITAS WHILE DRIBBLING A BASKETBALL!!

The other awesome news about today was MY BOX FINALLY CAME!!! It had some issues getting through customs. It reached Mexico last Friday, but in order to get released I had to send them: a letter from the school, my immigration papers, a copy of my passport, and my airline ticket. Then a few more days later, it finally got here!
Lesson Learned: Don’t forget anything when I come back from Xmas. BUY LOTS of shoes and pants while I’m home, and bring them with me when I return. Sending things down here is NOT easy!!
Here are some of the things that I got today!
Couldn't live without that Don Shelby fan!

SHOES!!! I also spared no time getting into my sweatpant capris!!  And you can see my ankle brace... bring on the soccer!

SHIRTS!!

A blankie from home that is actually longer than I am... that just does not exist down here! My hair is OC!! Sorry

I leave for Oaxaca with the kiddos on Sunday night at 2 am. So next week there will be plenty of stories and pictures! I am told I will eat a lot and spend a lot of money. Good thing I get paid while we are down there. I am also gearing up to eat chocolate covered grasshoppers. I accidently promised the kids I would at least try the small ones today

A special HAPPY BIRTHDAY shoutout to my mama on Friday! I hope this birthday trip goes better than the last one!! (It should, the 3 girls are not with you)

Last random funny thing…
Last night while I was lesson planning away I had my ipod on shuffle and I had recently indulged in purchasing some classic NKOTB songs, and one of those songs came on. So all of a sudden I hear, “Hi my name is Donnie and I’m a Taurus and I want to be loved by you does that sound okay”
I LAUGED SO HARD!! It reminded me of this stupid poster my sister Emily had in her bedroom that she thought came alive at night… oh the memories!! They also all sounds like they are five! I LOVE IT!!
